at the recent FWA conference held in Orlando in November 2008.

Way to go, Chuck. We're really proud of you!

We are currently looking for volunteers to facilitate various meetings. If you are willing and able to procure a guest speaker and/or host a meeting at our regular location, please contact Carolyn S. Hennecy by posting a message on this website (go to "Contact Us" tab and leave your message).

This is crucial for the continuance of the group to meet, so please step forward and fill a spot, only one month, that's all! It's all about teamwork!

GREATER POLK WRITERS ASSOCIATION

Carolyn directs the GPWA, an affiliate of Florida Writers Association. Greater Polk Writers Association serves Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties.

The group is comprised of individuals who are interested in writing, editing or publication of all genres, and seeks to facilitate and enable others seeking to exercise their desires as writers, poets and/or authors. Guest speakers bring many valuable tools and useful information to the meetings. Once each quarter a General Group Meeting is held,  at which time those in attendance discuss ideas and plans for growing and improving the group, as well as sharing pieces of their work and/or problems and issues they may be facing for assistance and encouragement in their efforts to become a successful author, poet, journalist or any other type of wordsmith.

For more information, please contact us.

For inquiries regarding the annual Florida Writers Conference, various writing contests and other activities statewide, click on the link below, and go to the FWA website, where you will find all the details you need! They have a lot of valuable information and  many new activites in the works. Keep writing!!
